Painting: Beyond the Canvas
Danielle currently teaches in the Gallery/ Studio Program at the Brooklyn Museum. Danielle’s class, Painting: Beyond the Canvas, is an opportunity for young artists ages 8-10 years old to experiment with a variety of media. Danielle’s syllabus emphasizes the connection between art making and gallery visits as a means to encourage young artists to explore and express their own identities. So far the class has visited Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving, Eric N. Mack: Lemme Walk Across the Room, One: Egúngún, and more. In response to these exhibitions, students have made mixed media paintings, prints, dyed fabric, fabric collages and mosaics.
